In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a leading Assisted Reproductive Technique (ART) widely used to address various forms of infertility. It involves a complex series of procedures where mature eggs are retrieved from a woman’s ovaries and fertilized with sperm in a specialized laboratory environment. The resulting embryos are carefully monitored, and the healthiest one is transferred into the uterus with the hope of achieving a successful pregnancy.

The primary goal of IVF is to help individuals or couples achieve pregnancy using either:

  • Their own eggs and sperm
  • Donor eggs and/or sperm, depending on clinical indications

IVF is often recommended for couples facing various fertility challenges such as blocked fallopian tubes, male factor infertility, ovulation disorders, advanced maternal age, or unexplained infertility.

IVF is considered an elective treatment, typically recommended when other fertility interventions have proven unsuccessful or are deemed unsuitable based on medical evaluation.

Beyond its clinical success, IVF offers emotional reassurance and renewed hope to countless individuals and couples who have long struggled with the heartbreak of infertility.

IVF begins with hormone therapy to stimulate the ovaries, followed by egg retrieval, lab-based fertilization with selected sperm, and finally, embryo transfer into the uterus. Each stage is carefully monitored by fertility specialists

For many IVF represents a second chance at building the family they’ve always dreamed of. With supportive care and advanced technology, IVF continues to be a beacon of possibility in the field of reproductive health.

💉 Step 5: Treatment Initiation

With your fertility assessments complete and your personalized plan in hand, we now begin the active phase of your IVF journey. This is where science meets timing, and every decision is designed to optimize outcomes. The most common next step is ovarian stimulation, though your path may differ based on your diagnosis and plan. This step involves daily injections or oral pills, depending or your treatment program.

🏥 Step 6: Egg Retrieval & Fertilization

This phase marks a significant milestone in your IVF journey: the collection of mature eggs and the beginning of fertilization. Once the egg follicles measure about 18mm - 24mm, your egg retrieval is scheduled approximately 34 - 36 hours after the trigger injection - timed precisely for optimal egg maturity.

🧫 Step 7: Embryo Development & Selection

Normally fertilized eggs, known as zygotes, are selected and returned to the incubator for culture, where they begin dividing to form embryos. By Day 5, embryos typically develop into blastocysts - fluid-filled cellular structures that signal readiness for implantation. Our expert embryologists use internationally recognized morphological scoring criteria to assess embryo quality to select the healthiest embryos for uterine transfer. For couples at increased risk of genetic disorders, we offer Pre-implantation Genetic Testing (PGT). This advanced technique allows for the identification of chromosomally and genetically normal embryos prior to transfer, giving added confidence and safety.

🌱 Step 7: Embryo Transfer

Embryo transfer is one of the most pivotal moments in the IVF journey. At Viva Fertility, we perform embryo transfers exclusively on Day 5 or 6, when embryos reached blastocyst stage. The quality and number of embryos to be transferred will be discussed with you. Only the healthiest blastocysts with high implantation potential are transferred. We recommend transferring 2 to 3 embryos however, we respects patient’s preference. The procedure is performed using a specialized catheter, inserted through the cervix under real-time ultrasound guidance. The procedure is generally painless, though some patients may experience mild discomfort. No anesthesia is typically required, and recovery is swift. You’ll rest in our clinic briefly before returning home the same day with post-care instructions.

Step 8: Luteal Support

Hormonal support with progesterone and estradiol continues post- embryo transfer. Pregnancy test is scheduled 14 days after to confirm whether implantation was successful.. Whether your result is positive or not, our team stands ready with compassionate guidance for next steps. If pregnancy test is positive, luteal support is continued until 12 weeks gestation and a luteal support fee will be charged.
